Bademit Micro-Dam To Play Vital Role In Achieving Food Security: Report

The Bademit micro-dam which is  under construction around Omhajer would play major role in efforts to achieve food security, stated Mr. Shemendi Woldegergish, Administrator of Omhajer semi-urban center.
Omhajer, 22 June 2011 – The Bademit micro-dam which is  under construction around Omhajer would play major role in efforts to achieve food security, stated Mr. Shemendi Woldegergish, Administrator of Omhajer semi-urban center.

He indicated that once finalized, it would impound sufficient water resource from the streams of Maeloba, Gergef and others. The micro-dam could also become source of major resource at the national level, he added.

The head of the project in Bidho Construction Company, Mr. Hadish Futsum, noted that enough machineries and manpower are being deployed in the construction of the micro-dam. In this connection, he pointed out that coordinated endeavors are being exerted so as to accomplish the task in the set timetable.

The coordinator of projects in the company, Mr. Kifleyesus Tesfatsion, said on his part that the people and members of the Defense Force are taking active participation in the undertaking. 

The Bademit micro-dam is expected to impound 32 million cubic meters of water, once finalized.
