Keren Residents Express Satisfaction For Witnessing The Transformation Of A Detention Center Into A Holy Place
A detention center in Keren which used to serve as suffering site of innocent civilians in the days of colonial rule has now been transformed into a temple and service-rendering enterprises, stated residents of the town with deep satisfaction. They said that the move constitutes compensation for past sufferings and atrocities.
Keren, 22 June 2011 – A detention center in Keren which used to serve as suffering site of innocent civilians in the days of colonial rule has now been transformed into a temple and service-rendering enterprises, stated residents of the town with deep satisfaction. They said that the move constitutes compensation for past sufferings and atrocities.
The residents further explained that a number of innocent citizens not only endured inhumane atrocities but also lost their precious lives as a result of such ruthless criminal acts on the part of colonial forces.
The head of Sahaba Mosque, Sheik Idris Mohammed Sheik, explained that the current holy place used to be a detention center during the colonial period. At present, however, it has been transformed into a place of worship and enterprises thanks to martyrs.
The secretary of the Anseba regional Assembly, Mr. Suleiman Mohammed-Nur Sead, said on his part that religions in the country are coexisting in peace and harmony thanks to the heavy sacrifices of martyrs.
