Eritrean nationals residing in various countries commemorate Martyrs Day with enthusiasm

Eritrean nationals residing in Rome, Qatar, South Africa, Juba, Abu Dhabi and Denver commemorated Martyrs Day in patriotic spirit. Asmara, 23 June 2011 – Eritrean nationals residing in Rome, Qatar, South Africa, Juba, Abu Dhabi and Denver commemorated Martyrs Day in patriotic spirit.
In the commemoration event held in Rome, the Eritrean Ambassador to Italy, Mr. Zemede Tekle, stated that it is the responsibility of every citizen to develop the nation achieved through huge scarifies and emphasized the need to enhance the on-going assistance to families of fallen heroes.
During the occasion, a total of 7,659 Euro was donated to augment the Martyrs Trust Fund out of which 2,595 Euro was contributed from selling candle, and 1,100 Euro was donated by Mr. Bisrat Solomon and Ms. Winta Ogbay in connection to their wedding. Moreover, 4,000 Euro was contributed by the Eritrean youth association in Rome.
Also in the commemoration event in Doha, the capital city of Qatar, Eritrean communities renewed their pledge to reinforce their participation in assisting families of fallen heroes.
Nationals residing in South Africa on their part donated 3,000 dollars for the same cause and set up a committee that would overlook such activities. Citizens in Abu Dhabi also contributed 100,000 Nakfa and 5,000 Dirham to augment the Martyrs Trust Fund, as well as assume responsibility for looking after 11 families of fallen heroes. 
Likewise, Eritreans in Juba, South Sudan, commemorated Martyrs Day through organizing various programs that reflect the scarifies made by the gallant fighters.  Meanwhile, nationals living in the US city of Denver reiterated their commitment to honor the trust of the martyrs.
