The Central regional Administration has prepared over 1.2 million tree seedlings to be planted in Serejeka sub-zone this year through Summer Work Program, according to Mr. Dawit Mebrahtu, head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone.
Serejeka, 27 June 2011 – The Central regional Administration has prepared over 1.2 million tree seedlings to be planted in Serejeka sub-zone this year through Summer Work Program, according to Mr. Dawit Mebrahtu, head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone.
He explained that the tree seedlings would be planted on about 125 hectares, and that the necessary terracing activities have already been undertaken. To this end, about 450,000 tree seedlings have been prepared in Gerima nursery center, 436,000 in Shimangus Laelai, 121,000 in Zagir and 112,000 seedlings in Sheka, he elaborated.
Mr. Dawit further explained that tree seedlings were planted on over 40 kilometers around Embaderho in which members of national associations and Defense Force participated. Noting that efforts to plant highland fruits in Shimangus Laelai, Mekerka and Geshi-Nashim is progressing well, he stated that various seeds of fruits have been distributed to farmers.
