Dairy cattle breeding farmers in Southern region are striving to enhance the supply of milk and its products, stated Mr. Muluras Tesfai, manager of the farmers’ association. He indicated that the association is producing 5,000 liters and able to sent its products to Asmara satisfying the region’s demand.
Mendefera, 30 June 2011 – Dairy cattle breeding farmers in Southern region are striving to enhance the supply of milk and its products, stated Mr. Muluras Tesfai, manager of the farmers’ association. He indicated that the association is producing 5,000 liters and able to sent its products to Asmara satisfying the region’s demand.
Pointing out the importance of providing animal feed to promote milk products, Mr. Muluras explained that efforts are undergoing to cultivate animal feed along the cultivated fruits and vegetables over and beneath dams. Besides, he indicated that greenery animal feed factories in the region are playing due role in ensuring animal feed both in terms of quality and quantity
The manger also stated that the farmers are organized in associations at regional and sub-regional level and are able to sell their products directly to customers. He indicated that six milk shops are opened in sub-zones of Dekemhare, Mendefera, Dubarwa and Segeneiti.
Mr. Muluras further said that various trainings are provided in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture to enhance their awareness.
