Massawa, 30 June 2011 – At an assessment meeting held in Massawa port city, it was disclosed that the number of participant in adult education program in Northern Red Sea region has registered 99% growth.
According to study papers presented by Mr. Mohammed Osman, head of the program in the region, and Mr. Girmai Tekle, an expert on statistics, the number of educational centers has risen by 162% and that of teachers by 141% over the past 10 years.
The director general of adult education and media in the Ministry of Education Mr. Gebrezgi Dumam, highlighted the importance of the paper presented in outlining an effective plan for expanding the program to remote places. He also called on the public at large to enhance contribution in the on-going endeavors of the Education Ministry to expand educational opportunities.
The participants of the program on their part adopted a number of resolutions and recommendations, including the need to commence such programs in all sub-zones and upgrading the number of libraries in the region.
