EDF Members And Sub-Zonal Administrative Bodies In Southern Red Sea Region Reiterate Commitment To Extend Assistance To Victims Of Volcanic Eruption
EDF members and sub-zonal administrative bodies in the Southern Red Sea region have reiterated commitment to extend the necessary assistance to displaced nationals following the recent volcanic eruption in the region.
Assab, 8 July 2011 – EDF members and sub-zonal administrative bodies in the Southern Red Sea region have reiterated commitment to extend the necessary assistance to displaced nationals following the recent volcanic eruption in the region.
The Administrator of Central Denkalia sub-zone, Mr. Isak Tuam, pointed out that the sub-zonal administration of the sub-zone is exerting utmost effort to this end in line with the strategy charted by the Government.
Likewise, Mr. Zerai Berhe, Administrator of South Denkalia sub-zone, stated that efforts are being stepped up to relocate the inhabitants in safe areas.
Meanwhile, director general of the Department of Mines in the Ministry of Energy and Mines, Mr. Alem Kibreab, pointed out that similar instance of volcanic eruption may take place in the future. In view of such a possibilities, equipments for detecting volcanic eruption have already been put in place in the area he elaborated.
