Ministry rehabilitates needy farmers in Northern Red Sea region

The branch office of the Ministry of Agriculture in the Northern Red Sea region rehabilitated a total of 500 needy farmers in nine sub-zones in collaboration with partners through distributing goats, according to Mr. Dawit Bisrat, head of animal resources in the branch office. He explained that the assistance aimed at enabling them also get engaged in livestock breeding, besides farming activities. Each farmer received from five to six sheep and goats, Mr. Dawit added. The beneficiaries on their part expressed appreciation to the assistance extended to them, and called on the concerned bodies to organize training regarding livestock breeding as the farmers have never been engaged in such activities previously.

Reports further indicated that the branch office has rehabilitated another 450 needy farmers in nine sub-zones in a similar manner at an expenditure of 3.6 million Nakfa.
