Asmara 14 July 2011 – Over 490 civil law prisoners completed academic and vocational training at the Sembel Correction and Rehabilitation Center including computer application and maintenance, accounting and graphics.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the Commander of the Center, Maj. Mehari Andeberhan, explained that strenuous endeavors are underway to correct and nurture them into law-abiding and responsible citizens. He further indicated that additional classrooms were constructed, and supply of educational material improved.
The Administrator of the Center, Lt. Tesfahiwet Gebrai, stated on his part that new educational programs and short-term training courses are being introduced.
The Commander of the Eritrean Prison and Rehabilitation Service, Brig. General, Girmai Mehari, and other officials handed certificates to the trainees. Artistic works by the civil law prisoners also featured on the occasion.
