Various Development Programs Underway In Gerset Dam

Various development programs are being carried out in Gerset Dam following the putting in place of reliable agricultural infrastructure through the joint efforts of the people and government, stated Mr. Kibreab Abraham, head of public technical center in Gash-Barka region.

Gerset, 20 July 2011 – Various development programs are being carried out in Gerset Dam following the putting in place of reliable agricultural infrastructure through the joint efforts of the people and government, stated Mr. Kibreab Abraham, head of public technical center in Gash-Barka region.

He indicated that a 140 km-long road have been constructed and bridge is under construction in the midst of the agricultural site. Thus, Mr. Kibreab said that the construction process of Gereset Dam, which began in 2003 is nearly finalizing.

He further stated that majority of Gerset would be planted cotton, sugar cone and orange in this year. As regards to the participation of the public, Mr. Kibreab explained that 2,500 workforce are engaged in agricultural activities daily.
