The necessary preparations have been made to prevent malaria incidence during the rainy season, stated Dr. Tewolde Gebremeskel, director general of Malaria Control Unit in the Ministry of Health. He said that the Unit has made available adequate drugs, mosquito nets and other medical equipments. Dr. Tewolde further pointed out that malaria epidemic has dropped significantly across the country as a result of the enhanced public awareness campaign regarding its preventions and the active role of concerned bodies. In this respect, he said that Eritrea is making vigorous endeavors to sustain the achievements registered so far, and stressed the need for contribution of all bodies to this end.

Dr. Tewolde also called on the general public to promote environmental sanitation, cover mosquitoes breeding spots and make effective use of mosquito nets.
