Micro–dam under construction in Habero-Tsaada administrative area

A micro-dam is under construction in Habero-Tsaada administrative area with a capacity of holding 150,000 cubic meters of water, stated Mr. Tesfai Kidane, manager of the project.

Habero-Tsaada, 26 July 2011 – A micro-dam is under construction in Habero-Tsaada administrative area with a capacity of holding 150,000 cubic meters of water, stated Mr. Tesfai Kidane, manager of the project.

He pointed out that the micro-dam is expected to enrich surface and underground water resources in the area, in addition to putting under cultivation about 20 hectares. Mr. Tesfai further explain that so far,  60% of the construction process has been finalized, and that emphasis is given to prevent the micro-dam from getting filled with silt, besides reducing speed of feeder rivers.

The local inhabitants stated that the micro-dam would play due role in alleviating potable water supply problem, and that they would exert efforts to cultivate vegetables below the micro-dam.
