SWP participants due role in preservation of cultural values

The participants of the Summer Work Program(SWP) in the Central region are playing due role  in the preservation of the nation’s cultural heritage, in addition to their active participation in development programs, according to reports. Asmara, 5 August 2011 – The participants of the Summer Work Program(SWP) in the Central region are playing due role  in the preservation of the nation’s cultural heritage, in addition to their active participation in development programs, according to reports.

One of the participants, Helen Teclemariam, said that reforestation activities of the participants are part of the pledge to honor the trust of martyrs of building a developed nation. Hermon Tekie who is also taking part in the undertaking said on his part that the Program is playing due role in enriching their awareness as regards the significance of united effort in the nation-building process.

The head of the Education Ministry’s branch office in the sub-zone, Mr. Abraham Berhe, explained that the SWP has been put into practice the 15th time. About 8,000 students are currently engaged in the building of terraces and land-leveling, and the digging of holes for tree planting, among others in 58 sites.
