Seven defecting soldiers of the TPLF region has arrived in Eritrea opposing the crimes and oppressions the regime commits.
Asmara, 8 August 2011- Seven defecting soldiers of the TPLF region has arrived in Eritrea opposing the crimes and oppressions the regime commits.
They are Corporal Hussein Deneke from the southern ethnic group, Sub-corporal Neguse Bejega Feyisa from the Oromo ethnic group, Sub-corporal Habtom Geberemariam Tessema from the Tigray ethnic group, Sub-corporal Rayas Abagubel Abadula from the Oromo ethnic group, Sub-corporal Mohammed Ismail Hasen from the Ogadean ethnic group and Private Atakilti Tareke Fekadu from the Tigray ethnic group.
One of the defectors, Corporal Hussein Demeke said that the regime’s Army commanders cut the salaries of soldiers on various pretexts and that the soldiers are forced to contribute monthly salary for the alleged construction of the bridge on the Abay River. As a result, many of the Army members are defecting to neighboring countries, Corporal Hussein added.
