The Ministry of Agriculture has registered satisfactory outcome in human resource development, according to the head of the training unit, Mr. Abel Mesfun. Asmara, 10 August 2011- The Ministry of Agriculture has registered satisfactory outcome in human resource development, according to the head of the training unit, Mr. Abel Mesfun.
He explained that the Ministry has been striving to strengthen endeavors for achieving food security and research on livestock, development of seedlings, administration of natural resources and improving people’s living standard in addition to the introduction of new technologies and organizing training programs for enhancing manpower resources.
The Ministry has offered numerous long and short-term training courses to its members and that about 18 thousand staff members have become beneficiaries over the past 18 years apart from the 322 members who were given that has the training this year.
The Ministry has also been offering training to 315 thousand farmers so as to help them improve their farming methods, reinforce forestation drive, enriching natural resources, water and soil conservation schemes, and fruit and vegetables farming among others.
Mr. Abel noted that the cornerstone for national development is the development of human resources and indicated that the Government is exerting relentless endeavors in the domain of food security.
