Golij, 11 August 2011 – Golij semi-urban center is witness rapid growth as a result of the putting in place of social service facilities, disclosed Mr. Kidane Andu, head of development unit in the semi-urban center.
Recalling that the town lacked such facilities before independence, he explained that various facilities have been made available especially over the last 10 years and that the inhabitants are now able to improve their living standard. Mr. Kidane further stated that nine water reservoirs have been constructed to alleviate potable water supply, and that efforts would be stepped up to expand 24-hour electricity supply.
The local inhabitants said that the construction of a number of service-rendering establishments are making due contribution in developing trade activities in the area.
Golij semi-urban center which comprises three administrative areas presently has schools and health stations.
