The inhabitants of eight Administrative areas of Keren sub-zone expressed satisfaction with the provision of health service. They said that the health institutions in the sub-zone organize lectures and campaigns to the public regarding mother and child care, malaria control, sanitation activity and communicable diseases. Keren, 12 August 2011 – The inhabitants of eight Administrative areas of Keren sub-zone expressed satisfaction with the provision of health service. They said that the health institutions in the sub-zone organize lectures and campaigns to the public regarding mother and child care, malaria control, sanitation activity and communicable diseases. As a result, the inhabitants said that mother and child mortality rate has dropped significantly.
The head of health institutions in Keren, Mr. Temesgen Zermariam, indicated that about 3,000 children have received vaccination, and that more than 4,000 pregnant mothers have made medical check-up. Moreover, 33,000 mosquito nets have been distributed to pregnant mothers and disadvantaged families. Reports indicated that there exist six health institutions including a referral hospital in Keren sub-zone.
