Gash Barka region to promote community based concerted action in diseases prevention

The Ministry of Health branch office in the Gash Barka region emphasized the need for community based concerted action to prevent prevalence of diseases especially on children under five years of age. Haykota, 14 August 2011- The Ministry of Health branch office in the Gash Barka region emphasized the need for community based concerted action to prevent prevalence of diseases especially on children under five years of age.

Head of the branch office, Dr. Lu’ul Banteyirga made the statement during a graduation ceremony of voluntary village health personnel held in Haykota and underlined the importance of the graduates in promoting the healthy society at a village level.

Dr. Lu’ul added that the program included 70% on disease protection and 30% on cure, while efforts are being enhanced to raise the number exponentially at a sub zonal level.

Noting that there are over 70 health institutions in the Gash Barka region, Dr. Lu’ul pointed out that around 49% health personnel were trained in child health care and 89% of the health facilities pursue the promotion of child health care.
