Gash-Barka region: Administrator calls on associations of vegetable and dairy farmers to boost production

The Administrator of Gash-Barka region, Mr. Musa Rab’a, has called on associations of vegetable and dairy farmers to boost production, and thereby satisfy market demand.

Barentu, 24 August 2011- The Administrator of Gash-Barka region, Mr. Musa Rab’a, has called on associations of vegetable and dairy farmers to boost production, and thereby satisfy market demand.

In a meeting with representatives of the associations, Mr. Musa pointed out that the activities and outcome of such association has not made headway so far. He further explained that the regional administration is working hard towards promoting their volume of production by creating suitable market conditions, preparing animal feed, introducing new dairy breeding methods and strengthening relations between the respective farmers and professionals.

In the meeting, representatives of the associations on their part outlined the activities and the shortcomings witnessed and pledged to raise production so as to satisfy market demand.

There exist about six associations of vegetable farmers and 8 dairy farmers in the Gash-Barka region.
