Barentu, 26 August 2011 – 15 people, out of whom three are females have attended basic journalism courses in Gash-Barka region that would enable them to work as assistant news correspondents in various sub-zones.
The training was organized by the Ministry of Information in collaboration with the Gash-Barka regional Administration. It focused on journalism, including news writing, still and motion cameras.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the Administrator of the region, Mr. Musa Rab’a, pointed out that the training is part of continuous endeavors to upgrade the capacity of news correspondents, and that about 1.5 million Nakfa has been allocated for the purchase of new equipments, and thereby reinforce news reporting in the region.
The director of human resource development in the Information Ministry, Mr. Sibhatu Kifle, called on the trainees to enhance the knowledge they have acquired.
The head of news agency in the Ministry, Mr. Berhe Asfaha, pointed out on his part that the training courses being offered by the Ministry of Information and Gash-Barka regional Administration are making significant contribution in the domain of news reporting.
