Reports say that Mai-Aron micro-dam in Mai-Libus administrative area, Mendefera sub-zone, is playing pivotal role in development activities of the area and providing reliable potable water supply to Mendefera town. The micro-dam has impounded sufficient amount of water thanks to this year’s promising rainy season.
Mendefera, 26 August 2011 – Reports say that Mai-Aron micro-dam in Mai-Libus administrative area, Mendefera sub-zone, is playing pivotal role in development activities of the area and providing reliable potable water supply to Mendefera town. The micro-dam has impounded sufficient amount of water thanks to this year’s promising rainy season.
The inhabitants explained that the micro-dam is making due contribution in enriching water resources and developing garden activities in the area. They added that they have managed to harvest vegetables and obtain animal feed two to three times a year.
Mr. Habtemariam Niguse said that the crops around the micro-dam are in good condition, and that a fish breeding project is in progress.
According to reports, the 139 dams and 256 ponds in the Southern region have impounded adequate water.
