Farm crops in Hamelmalo sub-zone in good condition

Select seed farm plots in Hamelmalo sub-zone are in good condition, according to seedlings expert, Mr. Kafel Teklesenbet. Hamelmalo, 5 August 2011- Select seed farm plots in Hamelmalo sub-zone are in good condition, according to seedlings expert, Mr. Kafel Teklesenbet.

He told ERINA that Hamelmalo College of Agriculture has been giving various courses in soil and water conservation methods to farmers in the sub-zone and has registered satisfactory outcome towards improving production and water conservation system.

Mr. Kafel further explained that with the collaboration of service-rendering institutions branch office in the sub-zone, around 500 hectares  have been put under cultivation through modern farming methods, as well as another 1,600 hectares on the basis of traditional farming. Moreover, crops in the Administrative areas of Wazentet, Genfelom and Hamelmalo have registered satisfactory outcome.

Mr. Jami’e Saleh, Mr. Tahir Humed and Mr. Idris Omar on their part indicated that seeds from Hamelmalo College have benefited farmers in the sub-zone as a result of the select seeds that enabled them to grow crops within short periods, among other advantages.
