Southern Region: New rules adopted for enhancing development of animal resources, rangeland

The Administrator of Southern region, Mr. Mustefa Nurhusien called for the implementation of the new regulation adopted for enhancing animal resources, and rangelands. Mendefera, 5 August 2011 – The Administrator of Southern region, Mr. Mustefa Nurhusien called for the implementation of the new regulation adopted for enhancing animal resources, and rangelands.

In a meeting held with associations of dairy farmers, vegetable farmers and agricultural experts, Mr. Mustefa said that for securing animal feed and increase production of milk and meat, vegetable farmers need to preserve 10% of their farming plot for animal feed and milk output.

The participants of the meeting said that they will do their level best towards effective implementation of the regulations alongside preserving land for the purpose of animal feed.

Mr. Mustefa stated that the regional administration would assist the farmers, in addition to rewarding them for their active participation in reforestation activities.
