Afabet sub-zone: Efforts underway to boost agricultural output

The inhabitants of Afabet sub-zone are making relentless efforts to boost agricultural production through constructing various water diversion schemes, according to Mr. Gesgis Mezgebe, in charge of economic development in the sub-zone. He further explained that the inhabitants have carried out extensive soil and water conservation activities.

Meanwhile, Mr. Gesgis indicated that the Government has extended support to more than 70 needy farmers so as to encourage them enhance their production effort. 80% of the local inhabitants are getting potable water supply, and that the previously existing water supply problems in administrative areas of Aget Gidrien and Afabet have now been overcome.
