The price of cement has been reduced by 75 percent with the commencement of operations by Gedem Cement Factory with production of 10,000 quintals a day supplied to the market.
Asmara, 6 September 2011 – The price of cement has been reduced by 75 percent with the commencement of operations by Gedem Cement Factory with production of 10,000 quintals a day supplied to the market.
Recalling that the price of a quintal of cement hiked to 2,000 Nakfa and that supply was inadequate, costumers said that the price has now dropped significantly.
The manger of cement distribution association, Mr. Estifanos Hiruy, and Mr. Birhane Gebremichael, owner of cement and limestone plant, explained that they are able to get adequate cement supply from Gedem Cement Factory. Both of them indicated that they are presently in a position to distribute cement to the public that is at fair price of 500 Nakfa per quintal.
