Northern Red Sea region: Decline in crime and accidents

Crime and accidents in the Northern Red Sea region have declined by 20 percent thanks to the active participation of the society, stated Maj. Kiflit Elias, head of crime prevention in the region.

Massawa, 9 September 2011 –Crime and accidents in the Northern Red Sea region have declined by 20 percent thanks to the active participation of the society, stated Maj. Kiflit Elias, head of crime prevention in the region.

He said that the intensive raising of awareness provided to vehicle drivers, students, owners of garages and government employees have made due contribution in achieving fruitful outcome to this end.

Maj. Kiflit explained that 48 vehicle accidents and 52 court petitions over the past six months were handled and that in comparison with last year, members of the public are playing vital role through reporting clear information to the concerned bodies. He further stressed the significance of organizing lectures and campaigns in schools regarding legal matters.
