President holds talks with delegation headed by Administrator of Sudan’s Kessala region

President Isaias Afwerki today received and held talks at Denden Hall with a delegation headed by the Administrator of Sudan’s Kessala region, Mr. Mohammed Yusuf Adem, as well as the Chairman of the region’s Assembly, Eng. Ahmed Hamid Mohammed.

Asmara, 14 September 2011 – President Isaias Afwerki today received and held talks at Denden Hall with a delegation headed by the Administrator of Sudan’s Kessala region, Mr. Mohammed Yusuf Adem, as well as the Chairman of the region’s Assembly, Eng. Ahmed Hamid Mohammed.

The Sudanese officials told ERINA that the meeting aimed at further enhancing the existing historical and brotherly ties between the Eritrean and Sudanese people in general, and between Eritrea and the Administration of Kessala region in particular.

The officials further explained that President Isaias once again reiterated his support to the Sudanese people, and that they held extensive discussion with President Isaias on the steps that need to be taken to further upgrade relations between the brotherly peoples of the two countries.

Pointing out that the construction of a new road linking Eritrea and Sudan which is nearing finalization would play vital role in strengthening all-round cooperation between the two peoples, the officials disclosed that the new road would be inaugurated by Presidents Isaias Afwerki and Omar Hassan Al-Beshir.
