President Isaias Afwerki today received and held talks with a Chinese Communist Party delegation headed by Mr. Ai Ping, Deputy-Minster of International Department in the Central Committee of the Party. Asmara, 16 September 2011 – President Isaias Afwerki today received and held talks with a Chinese Communist Party delegation headed by Mr. Ai Ping, Deputy-Minster of International Department in the Central Committee of the Party.
In the meeting at Denden Hall, the President said that Eritrea attaches major significance to China’s role and underlined that its role in current international developments needs to be both comprehensive and constructive.
Noting that the stage reached in the development of Eritrean- Chinese ties is satisfactory; relations between the two countries should be elevated to a higher level in line with the pace of development taking place in Eritrea and the situation in the region.
Mr. Ai Ping on his part indicated the PRC’s readiness to further enhances relations with Eritrea, and that practical steps are being taken to this end. Following the meeting, he told ERINA that both President Isaias and PFDJ officials conducted extensive discussion aimed at strengthening Eritrean-Chinese ties in general and relations between the Communist Party of China and the People’s Front for Justice and Democracy in particular. Mr. Ai Ping further explained that the delegation got constructive ideas from President Isaias as regards strengthening bilateral relations and on regional issues.
Meanwhile, in talks conducted between PFDJ officials and the Chinese Communist Party delegation last night, both sides agreed to exert vigorous endeavors to strengthen relations and on the continuation of further exchange of views between the PFDJ and Chinese Communist Party, as well as the two countries.
