President Isaias Afwerki today received and held talks at Denden Hall with a Sudanese government delegation headed by Gen. Mohammed Atta Almeula, Head of National Security and special envoy of President Omar Hassan Al-Beshir. Asmara, 16 September 2011- President Isaias Afwerki today received and held talks at Denden Hall with a Sudanese government delegation headed by Gen. Mohammed Atta Almeula, Head of National Security and special envoy of President Omar Hassan Al-Beshir.
During the extensive discussion they conducted focusing on the development of bilateral relations and exchange of views regarding regional issues, as well as the objective situation in the Sudan, the delegation gave detailed briefing on the latest developments in South Kurdufan and the Blue Nile State between the Republic of Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan.
Pointing out that Eritrea’s stance as ever is for peace and stability in Sudan, and that Sudanese issues should be resolved by the Sudanese themselves, the President informed the Sudanese delegation that Eritrea does not believe that external interference would produce positive outcome.
The Sudanese Ambassador to Eritrea, Mr. Majid Yussuf, told ERINA that the meeting is a continuation of the regular consultations and exchange of views between the two leaders. He further indicated that the delegation carried a message to President Isaias from President Omar Hassan Al-Beshir. Ambassador Majid also stated that President Isaias assured the delegation of the strategic relationship between the two sisterly countries.
