Reminder presented to protect farmlands from birds and pests

Administrator of the Shambuko sub-zone, Mr. Abubeker Mahmoud reminded the inhabitants of the sub-zone to protect the 125,000 hectares of farmlands from birds and pests.
Shambuko, 18 September 2011- Administrator of the Shambuko sub-zone, Mr. Abubeker Mahmoud reminded the inhabitants of the sub-zone to protect the 125,000 hectares of farmlands from birds and pests.

The Administrator said that the vast farmlands in the sub- zone are in a promising condition and that the inhabitants are dispatched under the guidance of agriculture experts the probable bird raids and pests.

Head of the Ministry of Agriculture branch of the sub-zone, Mr. Meseret Gebremichael, on his part noted that the dams and micro-dams in the area have collected enough water owing to the gratifying rainfall this season and those new types of birds are being noticed in flocks and the ministry has prepared the needed pesticides in the area.
