Logo-Anseba sub-zone: Modern queen bee breeding plays due role in boosting honey production

The introduction of modern queen bee breeding in Logo-Anseba sub-zone is playing significant role in boosting honey production and improving the living standard of beekeepers, stated Mr. Zekarias Bereketeab, in charge of poultry farm and bee breeding in the sub-zone. Logo-Anseba, 19 September 2011 – The introduction of modern queen bee breeding in Logo-Anseba sub-zone is playing significant role in boosting honey production and improving the living standard of beekeepers, stated Mr. Zekarias Bereketeab, in charge of poultry farm and bee breeding in the sub-zone.

Indicating that the sub-zone is suitable for bee breeding, he said that beekeepers have begun to apply modern bee breeding technique and increase production thanks to the continuous lectures given by the branch office of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Reports indicated that there exist 200 modern beehives and more than 1,200 traditional bee hives in Logo-Anseba sub-zone.
