Public campaign carried out in Gerset Agricultural Project

The inhabitants of Fanko administrative area have carried out campaign in Gerset Agricultural Project so as to step up endeavors to ensure food security. They have also previously conducted similar campaign in major agricultural projects in Fiesko and Fanko.

Gerset, 19 September 2011 – The inhabitants of Fanko administrative area have carried out campaign in Gerset Agricultural Project so as to step up endeavors to ensure food security. They have also previously conducted similar campaign in major agricultural projects in Fiesko and Fanko.

The local inhabitants commended the agricultural infrastructure put in place in Gerset, and expressed satisfaction with the government investment towards improving the living standard of the people.

The Administrator of Fanko, Mr. Ibrahim Haji, pointed out that three major dams namely Gerset, Mesko and Fanko are available there and facilitating agricultural activities in the area.

Mr. Yebio Teklai, an expert in soil and water conservation at Gerset Agricultural Project, explained that sugarcane has been planted over 185 hectares in Gerset, and cotton over 105 hectares, lemon and orange over 25 hectares, as well as palm trees over 1,000 hectares respectively, all of which are in good condition.
