Micro-dam in Elaberid Agro-industry renovated

The micro-dam in Elaberied Agro-industrial Plant has been renovated through the joint effort of the Administration of Elaberid sub-zone and Red-Sea Construction Company, stated the Administrator of Anseba region, Mr. Gergis Girmai. Elaberid, 20 September 2011- The micro-dam in Elaberied Agro-industrial Plant has been renovated through the joint effort of the Administration of Elaberid sub-zone and Red-Sea Construction Company, stated the Administrator of Anseba region, Mr. Gergis Girmai.

He told ERINA that the micro-dam was constructed 40 years ago with a capacity of holding half a million cubic meters of water and that the renovation process involved the channeling of such a volume of water to another one.

Furthermore, Mr. Gergis indicated that along with the task of construction and renovation of micro-dams, various development activities are underway aimed at improving the living standard of the local inhabitants. In line with such activities, mango seedlings have been planted in Habero, Elaberid, Hamelmalo and Geleb sub-zone and will continue in Adi-Tekelezan and Asmat sub-zones. As regards crops Mr. Gergis further explained that crop plantations in the region are in good conditions thanks to this year’s satisfactory rainfall.
