In continuation of efforts to solve shortage of health professionals, 354 students are currently enrolled in General Medicine and Dentistry in Orota School of Medicine, stated Prof. Andemariam Gebremichael, Dean of the college.
Asmara, 29 September 2011- In continuation of efforts to solve shortage of health professionals, 354 students are currently enrolled in General Medicine and Dentistry in Orota School of Medicine, stated Prof. Andemariam Gebremichael, Dean of the college.
He told ERINA that the students presently enrolled are those that got higher mark in the National School Leaving Examination, and the college has 256 students enrolled in General Medicine, 43 in Dentistry, in addition to the 55 new students admitted this year.
He further explained that previous graduates have reduced the number of people which one doctor treats from 29 thousand to 20 thousand and at present the school is exerting vigorous efforts for doctor for 6 thousand people in the year 2020.
Moreover, the graduating doctors from Orota School of Medicine meet international standard for medicine professionals, and would play vital role in providing satisfactory services to the people.
He further underlined that the school wishes is to secure as many as female participation in the school as males,, and called on the students to effectively make use of the education for free.
