Southern region: Elementary schools begin rendering service

The commencement of work by elementary schools in Mai-Aini, Amni-Haili and Segeneiti sub-zones is playing significant role in broadening educational opportunities, stated Mr. Kaleab Tesfaselasie.

Mendefera, 5 October 2011 – The commencement of work by elementary schools in Mai-Aini, Amni-Haili and Segeneiti sub-zones is playing significant role in broadening educational opportunities, stated Mr. Kaleab Tesfaselasie.

He also said that an elementary school in Mai-Haili sub-zone has been upgraded to junior level, and lauded the Government’s endeavors to expand the number of schools. 

Reports indicated that all schools in the Southern region began this year’s academic year on time, and that concerted efforts are underway to upgrade the competence of students and quality of education. There exist 497 schools in the region ranging from kindergarten to secondary level enrolling over 200 thousand students, the report added.
