The National Association of Teachers said that the achievements registered in education sector are the yardstick for assessing the pace of development and prosperity in the country. The Association made the remarks at a conference held in connection with Teachers’ Day observances.
Keren, 7 October 2011 –The National Association of Teachers said that the achievements registered in education sector are the yardstick for assessing the pace of development and prosperity in the country. The Association made the remarks at a conference held in connection with Teachers’ Day observances.
It was indicated at the conference that the development being witnessed in the world from time to time is the outcome of education, in which teachers are the driving force.
Speaking at the conference in which over 250 participants took part, the Director General of Adult Education and Media Department in Education Ministry, Mr. Gebrezgi Dimam, pointed out that the Government is doing its level best to expand equitable education across the nation at substantial expenditure. He added that teachers are playing leading role in implementing government policies and principles.
In an annual report presented at the Conference Mr. Isak Tesfagergis, Chairperson of the Association, explained the on-going efforts to narrow the gap among school participants. He also called on females students to pursue their studies in zeal.
The Administrator of Keren town, Mr. Tekie Keleta, on his part highlighted the paramount role of teachers in bringing about change and development.
Meanwhile, in a meeting they conducted, the branches of the Association of Teachers in Southern and Anseba regions assessed the achievements so far registered in education, and commended the government and community initiatives towards improving the living standard of teachers.
