Gash-Barka region: New elementary schools opened for nationals leading nomadic pattern of living

New elementary schools within the framework of  educational program for nomadic have been opened in 13 villages in Gash-Barka region, stated Mr. Kelit Girmai, head of the branch office of the Ministry of Education in the region.

Barentu, 7 October 2011 –New elementary schools within the framework of  educational program for nomadic have been opened in 13 villages in Gash-Barka region, stated Mr. Kelit Girmai, head of the branch office of the Ministry of Education in the region.

Speaking at a meeting with head of branch offices, sub-zonal administrators and school directors and supervisors, Mr. Kelit said that a number of schools have been upgraded, and as a result the problem of shortage of junior and secondary schools have been tackled. He added that student enrolment has shown 12.6% growth from that of the previous year.

75% from more than 97 thousand students have been promoted to the next level, reports indicated.
