Upgrading the capacity of service-rendering enterprises is decisive for developing tourism sector, and thereby make due contribution in strengthening the national economy, stated Mr. Mohammed Idris, director general of Tourism Service Department in the Ministry of Tourism.

Asmara, 7 October 2011- Upgrading the capacity of service-rendering enterprises is decisive for developing tourism sector, and thereby make due contribution in strengthening the national economy, stated Mr. Mohammed Idris, director general of Tourism Service Department in the Ministry of Tourism.

He made the remarks at the first congress of the Association of Tourism Service-rendering Enterprises in Southern region that was conducted in Mendefera town from October 5 to 6.

The chairman of the Eritrean National Association of Tourism Service-rendering Institutions, Mr. Solomon Abraha, said that the Association shoulders the responsibility of bring about change through raising the awareness of staff members.

Papers regarding the role of management, Inland Revenue Department, Ministry of Trade and Industry, training programs, the activities of the association and its challenges, as well as the role of youth members in the association were presented at the congress.

There exist over 1,000 service-rendering institutions in the Southern region, reports indicated.
