Geleb, 8 October 2011 – 80% of the inhabitants of Geleb sub-zone are in a position to get reliable potable water supply, according to Mr. Tekleberhan Mihreteab, the Administrator.
He said that the greater portion of the sub-zone is endowed with rich water resources, and that 24 wells operating through motors and solar energy have been put in place. The Administrator also indicated that ponds have been made available in four Rora administrative areas.
Moreover, Mr. Tekleberhan explained that the existing 24 schools in the sub-zone are playing significant role in providing equal educational opportunity, and that efforts to eradicate illiteracy are bearing fruitful outcome.
He further pointed out that the sub-zonal administration is exerting vigorous efforts to develop irrigation farming, and thereby meet the food needs of the local community. Mr. Tekleberhan also explained that the provision of transport and mobile telephone services have relieved the inhabitants from problems previously encountered.
