Crops in Afabet sub-zone are in good condition, according to the Administrator of the sub-zone, Mr. Abdu Mohammed Telke. Afabet, 15 October 2011- Crops in Afabet sub-zone are in good condition, according to the Administrator of the sub-zone, Mr. Abdu Mohammed Telke.
He also explained that vigorous efforts were made in the past three years to raise production, and that this year’s production would be better that that of previous years.
Moreover, the Administrator indicated said that preparations are underway to construct a micro-dam around Qelamet administrative area and that preparations for the construction of water diversion schemes from Sheka River have been finalized that would put farms in Felket and Gebgeb under cultivation.
Regarding the preservation of animal resource and enhancing forestation activities, reports indicated that land preservation around Felket and Qelamet administrative areas is promising. Besides, wild animals and forests are satisfactory conditions.
Mr. Abdu further pointed out that efforts made in soil and water conservation and renovation of roads have registered encouraging progress.
