Massawa, 19 October 2011 – Community magistrates and family elders are playing due role in settling a number of cases through reconciliation, stated Mr. Habtom Gebrezgiabher, Attorney of the Northern Red Sea region.
He said that the office of the Attorney in the region is striving to minimize crimes and expand legal institutions through establishing branch offices in Massawa, Afabet and Ginda.
Mr. Habtom further explained that the office of the Attorney maintains good relations with all government institutions, especially police and education with a view to raising public awareness regarding law in close cooperation with national associations.
According to reports from the office, 90% of 600 cases have been settled through legal procedures over the last 9 months.
