Hamelmalo, 19 October 2011 – The Dean of Hamelmalo Agriculture College, Mr. Semere Amlesom, called on farmer to apply select seeds so as to boost agricultural output, and thereby achieve food security.
In a meeting he conducted with more than 45 farmers from Hamelmalo sub-zone, who came to observe the research activities of the College, agricultural experts and administrators, he advised the farmers to use seeds that could better adapt to their environment and are profitable.
Briefings were given by experts, teachers and students on the occasion regarding preservation of natural resources and environment, land management and utilization, soil and water conservation activities, research activities on seeds and their outcome.
Reports indicated that the lecture was aimed at encouraging farmers to make use of select seeds studies at the research center in Hamelmalo, and distribute it to fellow farmers.
