President Isaias leaves for Sudan on visit

President Isaias Afwerki today left for Sudan on a two-day visit at the invitation of President Omar Hassan Al-Beshir.

Asmara, 19 October 2011 – President Isaias Afwerki today left for Sudan on a two-day visit at the invitation of President Omar Hassan Al-Beshir.

On arrival in Khartoum International Airport, the President was accorded warm welcome by President Omar Hassan Al-Beshir, along with a Guard of Honor and the national anthems of both countries. Moreover, Ministers and senior government officials, diplomats and members of the Eritrean community were present at the welcoming ceremony.

In a meeting the two leaders conducted, they held talks on bilateral relations and issues of mutual concern, according to reporters from the Ministry of Information.
