Active participation of nationals and government institutions described vital for reinforcing sports activities
In an assessment meeting conducted regarding sports activities in Anseba region, the Administrator of Keren town, Mr. Tekie Keleta, stressed the need for active participation on the part of nationals and government institutions.
Keren, 21 October 2011 – In an assessment meeting conducted regarding sports activities in Anseba region, the Administrator of Keren town, Mr. Tekie Keleta, stressed the need for active participation on the part of nationals and government institutions.
He also appreciated the support being extended by citizens inside the country and abroad to develop sports activities.
The chairman of the sports commission in the town, Mr. Misgina Gebru,on his part stressed the importance of active popular participation to this end, and nurture youths who would make names for themselves and the country.
Likewise, the regional sports commissioner, Mr. Saleh Abubeker said that substantial investment is being made to promote sports activities and that the nation’s capacity to host regional sports competition fully attests to its commitment to develop sports.
The participants of the meeting held extensive discussion and adopted a number of resolutions including enhancing female participation in sports activities, the putting in place of basic sports infrastructure and strengthening youth organizations in all sub-zones of the Anseba region. Moreover, an executive body comprising 14 members has been elected.
