Soil and water conservation activities in Anseba region towards ensuring food security have registered satisfactory outcome, stated Mr. Al-Amin Taher, head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch office in the region.
Keren, 22 October 2011- Soil and water conservation activities in Anseba region towards ensuring food security have registered satisfactory outcome, stated Mr. Al-Amin Taher, head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch office in the region.

He explained that a number of micro-dams and water reservoirs have been constructed in various administrative areas of the region, as well as terracing and water diversion schemes that are underway in the region. Mr. Al-Amin noted that good production witnesses this year is the outcome of such inputs.

He furhter indicated that the necessary infrastructure has been put in place to transform the plains of Habero sub-zone for agricultural production, in addition to the plantation of mango seeds around the Anseba River.

Meanwhile, in order to secure drinking water to animals and the inhabitants of the region micro-dams are being constructed in Habero, Hamelmalo, and Elaberid sub-zones, as well as similar facilities in Hagas sub-zone.

Regarding animal health, vaccination service is being provided in all the sub-zones of the region, in addition to establishing a veterinary unit in clinics of the sub-zones, he added.
