Two thousand mango seedlings planted in plains of Anseba region

As part of the program to raise mango fruit production in plains of Anseba region, around 2,000 tree seedling have been planted in the area, according Mr. Yosef Asghedom, vegetable and fruits expert in the Agriculture Ministry’s branch office in the region.
Keren, 27 October 2011 – As part of the program to raise mango fruit production in plains of Anseba region, around 2,000 tree seedling have been planted in the area, according Mr. Yosef Asghedom, vegetable and fruits expert in the Agriculture Ministry’s branch office in the region.

He explained that the experimented mango seedlings from Elaberid Agro-industry have been provided to farmers in the sub-zones of Habero, Hamelmalo, Elaberid, Geleb and Halhal.

Mr. Yosef  also noted the economic significance of the mango fruit, in addition to its potential of combating erosion, soil conservation.

Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim and Mr. Seid Ahmed Osman from the local community on their part indicated the rich land reserves and water around Anseba River which is suitable for vegetable farming.
