Beneficiaries expressed satisfaction with the newly constructed asphalt road linking Eritrea with Sudan that was inaugurated in a ceremony conducted in Kassala on October 26 in the presence of President Isaias Afwerki, the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, and president Omar Hassan Al-Bashir of Sudan, and indicated that it will make substantial contribution in strengthening the socio-economic ties of the two peoples.

The Eritrean and Sudanese beneficiaries said that the modern road linking the two brotherly peoples will serve as a bridge for advanced ties and fostering mutual benefits in addition to alleviating delays and discomfort of the past. Moreover it will create a good opportunity for the speedy and booming economic exchange, favorable opportunities and vast opportunities.
Truck driverHabtegebriel Tesfay expressing that the road is an indication of the historical ties of the people of Eritrea and Sudan, indicated that before construction Arbatasher-Kassala road was uncomfortable and time consuming, but after its construction the time for travel would dramatically decrease, and that good opportunity lies ahead in improving their daily activities.
A resident of Kassala, Abbas Al Rashid, on his part expressed satisfaction with the completion of the road and indicated that it will reinforce the existing exemplary relations and socio-economic ties of the two peoples.
Youth Jaladin Mohammed, resident of Khartoum on his part indicated that this vital road is an indication of the accord and brotherly ties of peoples.
Likewise, Ms. Teberih Mehari, resident of Tesenei, said that the road has opened the opportunity for speedy transportation and other communication conveniences.
The 26 kilometers Arbatasher-Kassala road was funded by the State of Qatar.
