President Isaias holds discussion with Administrator of Kassala

President Isaias Afwerki on October 27 held discussion with the Administrator of Kassala region, Mr. Mohammed Yusuf, during his second time visit there. Kassala, 28 October 2011- President Isaias Afwerki on October 27 held discussion with the Administrator of Kassala region, Mr. Mohammed Yusuf, during his second time visit there.

The discussion between the two sides focused on reinforcing development programs between Eritrea and Kassala region in accordance with the agreement reached by President Isaias Afwerki and President Omar Hassan Al-Bashir, President of the Republic of Sudan.

In the meeting both sides agreed to speed up development programs and infrastructure building on the border of the two countries.During his stay in Kassala, President Isaias visited veteran Combatant Abdalla Idris.The veteran fighter was on of the fighters who struggled alongside fighter Isaias Afwerki.

Likewise, during the President’s visit to the residence of Sheikh Osman Hassabalah, a Shikuria ethnic leader, Sheikh Osman praised the President for his big role in realizing peace and stability on the Eritrean and Sudanese borders and expressed confidence that the modern Arbatasher-Kassala asphalt road would reinforce the historical ties of the two countries.
