Barentu, 31 October 2011- The Ministry of Agriculture branch office in the Gash-Barka region disclosed that the micro-dams and water catchments constructed in the region are contributing significantly in augmenting the livestock resource of the area.

Head of the crop and animal development department in the branch office of the Ministry, Mr. Misgina Gilay indicated that all the micro-dams have collected enough water from this season’s rain fall and that the livestock in the region have the needed water and food supply within their vicinity.

Noting that over 773 hectares of land with a capacity of producing 64,000 tones of selected hay annually is being enhanced in the region, the branch office disclosed that even those places with a relatively lower rainfall have secured the needed animal food for the entire year.
