Crops in Adi-Quala sub-zone in good condition

Crop cultivated in an over 22,000 hectares in Adi-Quala sub-zone is in good condition, according to reports.

Asmara, 4 November 2011 – Crops cultivated in an over 22,000 hectares in Adi-Quala sub-zone is in good condition, according to reports.

Mr. Tekleweini Woldegebriel, expert in crop cultivation in the sub-zone, said that crops planted in four administrative areas in the months of May and June initially sustained damage due to inadequate of rainfall. However, the ample rainfall in July and August made due contribution for the cultivation of crops, cereals and oil seeds to the desired extend, he added.

He also explained that farming communities in the area have managed to raise production through applying select seeds and carrying out effective soil and water conservation activities.
